Danish flag theme

Denmark won the Eurovision song contest.. I was feeling the pride for our home country! N's all time fave sandwich is classic Danish liver pate and beet root on rye bread.. I used cheese to complete the flag.

Frikadeller face

Nora wished for Frikadelle today in her lunch...

'Bento' lunches

Nora is a bit older now.. and started Bornhave (nursery). She is a little bit of a fussy eater. I thought I'd share what I've found helps her eat more at lunch time.. Making sure her food has plenty of colours & shapes. She really enjoys to help make them too.

Above is the very first 'bento style' lunch I made her, the rugbrod (ryebread) sandwiches were cut into heart shapes.

Yesterdays lunch she wanted a flower sandwich. I didn't have a flower shape cutter so I used an egg shaped cutter to make petal shapes. I went for a garden theme making her veg into a little cute caterpiller. She ate ALL her veg... I'm so impressed!

Nora eats EVERYTHING

One two skip a few..

So the little madam is getting bigger and bigger like the little caterpillar that ate it's way through..

 one apple
 two..

Ok.. so she ate an apple.. but you must understand my frustration as I had been chopping her fruit for weeks and she was not so interested, this girl want to have her apple and eat it whole. I discovered her here.. with her find as she is getting bigger, she is exploring and well.. nothing is safe that is not above 3ft.

Broccoyumi

Broccoli gets such a bad rep because so many people have experienced some badly cooked stinky mushed broccoli.. But I LOVE broccoli and think its is really tasty when it is just cooked (good idea to steam it) and NO MORE. Naturally I want my lill one to enjoy eating her greens without a fight! So I am super careful to cook her broccoli to perfection.. bright and green, firm but just soft enough to gum.. tasty fresh.. it is also a great little finger food as they can grip the stem and easy gum off the tiny little green buds.

Did she like it.. ?

 She LOVED it!
broccoli is a big winner in our books.

Look out for our fabulous GIVEAWAY coming soon!

Finger food

We have been offering Nora finger foods as snacks or along side her meals

Lunch for two

So Sometimes I want to make Nora something nice and fresh and and I make for myself at the same time. Only this one it seemed I enjoyed more than her.. not sure why she wasn't liking it because she has liked all the same things before in different mixes! I need to get more adventurous with veggies.. any suggestions people?

Pancakes!

We had our first real meal together! Pancakes for breakfast!

I just made them without sugar as we have sweet things on them anyway.. Nora had hers mashed with fruit puree. It was fun the little miss (tried) feeding herself.

Some of it actually went in!

Good Mush

I had a baby mush cook-up last week to add to the fruit I already have in the freezer.

I made a batch of sweet potato with carrots and broccoli plus a batch of Broccoli and pears with peas and I blended a load of what I was having for dinner that night too- Chicken, parsnips and carrots and apple. Nora likes them except for the one with Chicken.. I'm thinking of adding some prunes to the mix any suggestions are welcome, I made quite a big batch and don't want to lose it.

baby rice

Nora's second feeding of solids (plain rice) she wanted to feed herself!

I tried and wanted to hold out with feeding Nora solids until she was 6 months but it wasn't happening... at around Noras 5 month Birthday I was SORE from feeding every 2.5 hours and TIRED from her not sleeping through the night anymore.. one night in the wee early hours I had enough and cooked her up some ground rice with her usual milk and a little bit of butter.. she wolved it down and was sound asleep within 5min of finishing her first 'real food'. Our Health visitor had already told us when Nony was 4 months that she was ready for solids so from there we went for it.. just rice and after 5 days added some home made pear puree.. then every 4 or 5 days we tried a new mix with prune then banana then apple.

I've heard some people say that they can't be bothered making those little meals just to have their child take two tastes and not eat it. I was surprised at how well she ate and she continues to like just about everything too.. because she is used to sweet mummys milk I began her with fruits and then mixed apple with carrot and tried sweet potatoe with carrot, peas with pear etc and she eats it all. I expected her to just have little 'tastes' of food when we began but she had other ideas!
